Gudgeon
The little bottom-feeder with a pair of barbels either side of its mouth. Gudgeon shoal over gravel and sand and take a maggot or caster hard on the bottom - a favourite first fish for young anglers and a reliable match target. Note for Irish members: gudgeon are not native to Ireland, though they are considered harmless where they have established.
