Winter Silvers Deck rig
Scaled-down pole rig for roach, skimmers and bream on the deck. Scaled down for roach, skimmers and bream, November to February
The parts, top to bottom
- No.6-8 slick elastic - Matched to the hooklength, soft enough to cushion a winter silvers mouth
- Loop to pole tip - Mainline 0.14 mm. Keep 22 in between the pole tip and the float, marked on the side tray
- No.9 back shot - About 6 in above the float. Add a second near the connector in flat calm, and a third when it is windy
- 4x14 (0.4 g) slim F1 float, 1.5 mm hollow bristle - Carbon stem in flat calm, wire stem when it is towing or windy
- 4 x No.8 bulk, sized to the float - Work back from the float: a 0.4 g float takes 6 x No.8 as a bare bulk (0.06 g each), so with three No.11 trimmers (0.09 g) and the No.9 dropper (0.05 g) the bulk comes down to 4 x No.8. Whole shotting 0.38 g on a 0.4 g float
- 3 x No.11 trimmers below the bulk
- 1 x No.9 on the hooklength
- Loop-to-loop, 6 in or 8 in hooklength - 0.10 mm, stepping up to 0.12 mm if you keep hooking carp
- Size 18 fine wire, single maggot - Size 16 when the fish are really having it
Choosing the parts? The guides cover elastic, line, hooks, bait and shotting.
